NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport participated in Routes Silk Road 2014 forum
The delegation of NOVOSBIRSK International Airport took part in Routes Silk Road forum held from 6th to 8th July in Tbilisi, Georgia. The forum saw attendance of 300 senior industry experts from more than 50 airlines and over 60 international airports.
The Novosibirsk airport’s representatives conducted a series of meetings and negotiations with the airlines in the context of launching new regular flights from Novosibirsk and the possibility to add frequencies on the already operating routes. The issues of potential partnership with the airlines regarding their transfer prospects were considered as well.
The airport’s and NOVAPORT group’s delegates discussed the perspectives of cooperation with the following foreign airlines – Air Arabia, Air China, China Southern Airlines, Georgian Airways, Pegasus Asia, Air Asia X and some other.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic terminal capacity makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the capacity on international flights – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO CAT I and CAT II. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.7 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled. In 2014 the airport expects to serve 4.2 mln passengers and handle over 32 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
Routes Silk Road , the first ever held event: until 2014 it was known as Routes CIS. The forum appears a productive platform to stimulate development of the global market of air services consolidating aviation potential of CIS, East Europe, Middle East and Asia. Among its attendees are airports, airlines, equipment suppliers, investors, international and regional associations as well as national tourism organizations.
