Jazz concert to raise preflight mood
In the morning on February 19, 2014, before departure from NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport to Sochi on Flight P2 5969 with ORENAIR airlines, artists of the well-known Novosibirsk jazz orchestra The Siberian Dixieland performed several compositions and jazz improvisations specially prepared for the cultural events of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games. The passengers and guests of the airport got their portion of good vibrations and positive preflight mood.
The Siberian Dixieland continued a sort of “cultural marathon” commenced on 5th February at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airport: at that hour before leaving for Sochi, Bis Band wind orchestra gave live performance in the airport terminal. A few days after, also before another flight to Sochi, Novosibirsk airport hosted the Siberian State Academic Russian Folk Choir, members of which returned on Flight P2 5970 from the capital the Olympics in the morning on February 19, 2014.
Live sets performed by creative teams hosted by NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport are conducted within the series of events dedicated to the Year of Culture in the Novosibirsk region. The project is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk region in association with NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport. Chashka Kofe, a coffee house chain in Novosibirsk, is announced as a partner of the event.
The Siberian Dixieland was organized in 1988. Since its foundation, the orchestra actively went on tour to the cities and republics of the former USSR and starting from 1991 also abroad (Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Germany, China, the USA, Switzerland). In 1994, being already a philharmonic group, the Siberian Jazz Band organized its own season ticket and released its first CD. Peculiarity of the artistic image of the orchestra is the willing to perform some late compositions of “swing” era along with music of the New-Orleans style. The musicians of the ensemble are individuals among which are such outstanding instrumentalists as the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Gershenovich (trumpet), the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Gulyj (keyboard, arrangement), Evgeniy Golovanov (saxophone), Vadim Dobryakov (trombone), Denis Kostin (tuba), Vladimir Kirpichev (drums), Ivan Krivtsov (banjo).
