NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport acquired two jet bridges for the international passenger terminal
Within the framework of the modernization programme, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport concluded contract on production and assembly of two jet bridges to upgrade passenger service in the international passenger terminal (Terminal B).
Following the results of the tender invited by Airport Tolmachevo JSC, jet bridges will be supplied by ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems, a subsidiary of the largest German industrial group ThyssenKrupp AG. Total investment makes up 1 million Euro, charges for facilities and their installation inclusive.
Length of both extendable jet bridges, consisting of three and two tunnels, varies from 19 to 39 and 17 to 27 meters respectively. Jet bridges will enable 1.6 – 5.4 meters lift necessary for providing handling services of various aircraft types. The tunnels will be thermally insulated to allow their operation in all weather conditions.
The jet bridges are expected to be assembled in spring 2014. Once installation has been completed, the number of “tubes” in Terminal B will increase up to three. Overall number of jet bridges in Novosibirsk airport will make up 5 units, considering two and one already operating bridges in Terminal A and B respectively.
Worth mentioning, as a part of the modernization project, the floor space of the international passenger terminal will expand from 11,000 m2 to 24,000 m2, while its capacity will increase up to 1,300 passengers per hour. In order to improve passenger service level, a new baggage processing system, escalators, elevators for PRMs (passengers with reduced mobility) are planned to be installed, as well as business lounge and parenting room being furnished. Construction works of the linking gallery between Terminal A and Terminal B are to be fulfilled as well as the border control point to be expanded with the number of passport control booths being doubled, from 6 to 12 (on both arrival and departure).
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic airline capacity makes up 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights – 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways. In 2013 it expects to serve over 3.7 million passengers and handle over 35 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
