The Government of the Novosibirsk region supported the project of postal hub creation at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport
FSUE Russian Post decided to develop a postal distribution center on the base of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport. The initiative was reported by the Deputy General Director of FSUE Russian Post Maxim PARSHIN at the meeting dedicated to his company’s projects realization on the territory of the Novosibirsk region.
The panel session was attended by the Governor of the Novosibirsk region Vasiliy YURCHENKO, the Deputy General Director of FSUE Russian Post Maxim PARSHIN, the Director of FSUE Russian Post of the Federal Postal Service Department in the Novosibirsk region Sergey SKRYLOV and the General Director of Airport Tolmachevo, JSC Evgeniy YANKILEVICH.
According to the Governor Vasiliy YURCHENKO, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is completely ready to start operations of the postal distribution center processing parcels from South-East Asia, while all the participants of this project are to benefit from its positive results.
Quoting Evgeniy YANKILEVICH, 2,800 m2 of postal terminal space is available and already equipped to process international postal items. Total investment made up about 1.5 mln USD. The airport is ready to extend cooperation with FSUE Russian Post concerning new infrastructure and commercial joint projects.
At the end of March 2013, the national postal services of Russia and China reached an agreement concerning partial redirection of incoming mail directly to Novosibirsk (with zip-sorting to the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts) in order to optimize workload of the Moscow Air Hub as well as substantially reduce delivery time to addressees.
The decision to choose NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport as a postal logistics center able to cover requirements of the Siberian region was determined by availability of the necessary infrastructure as well as its favorable geographical location: it is the largest international airport in Russia east of the Urals positioned at the intersection of many air transit routes connecting South-East Asia and China with Europe and North America.Already in April 2013, delivery of the first postal items to Novosibirsk was commenced on direct flights departed from Beijing.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest transit air hub in the Asian part of Russia. The airport has two runways, provides handling services of regular cargo flights of both Russian and foreign airlines such as AirBridgeCargo, Transaero, Volga-Dnepr, Cargolux, Air China Cargo, Yangtze River Express and others. Capacity of the freight complex Tolmachevo Cargo makes up 50,000 tons per year.In 2013 it expects to handle over 35,000 tons of cargo and mail (+25%).
